1. CBD is not being scientically studied – FALSE
CBD is being scentifically studied. Due to the fact there are over 85 cannaboids and that THC and CBD are the most recognized, these two benefit from the largest amounts of studies.
2. CBD will not get you “high” –TRUE
It’s true. CBD will not give you that “high” feeling like you get from THC. CBD does not have the properties that get you high.
3.CBD is not therapeutic – FALSE
Definitely false, CBD is very therapeutic. As we know, most medications come with negative side effects. Thankfully, CBD is considered to be non-toxic and does not have many negative side effects which allows it to take place of other medications.
4. CBD is legal – TRUE
This is a tricky answer depending on who you ask and where you are talking about. CBD is a natural product derived from industrial hemp plants. As long as CBD contains less than 0.3% of THC, it is legal.
5. CBD stimulates our CB1 and CB2 receptors – TRUE
Yes, yes yes. When CBD is used, it affects two main cannabinoid receptors in our bodies. CB1 is primarily located in the brain and central nervous sysem and CB2 is located in our immune system cells, gastrointestinal tract our peripheral nerous system. This is important because the effects of activating these receptors is what is noticeable.
6.CBD does not help with anxiety – FALSE
CBD DOES help with anxiety. “A 2018 survey in Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research states that over 60% of cannabidiol users reproted they were taking CBD to treat a medical condition” (Center for Internal Med). For more information on CBD and depression, click here to read our previous blog post.
7.Humans naturally produce cannabinoids – TRUE
Correct! Humans do naturally produce cannabinoids in our endocannabinoid system. One of the most beneficial endocannabinoids is anandamide. Anandamide activates our CB1 receptors and helps relieves anxiety, fear, depression, lowers blood pressure, and more. To read more on the endocannabinoid system, click here.
8.CBD can affect Clinical Endocannabinod Deficency (CECD) negatively – FALSE
Actually, CBD can affect the CECD positively. People with CECD produce lower amounts of natural cannabinoids. Negative effects of a decreased production would be symptoms such as migraines, IBS, autism, PTSD, MS, and Parkinson’s Disease.
9. CBD is safe – TRUE
Yay! Yes, CBD is safe. According to WHO, CBD is tolerated by most humans. It does have a safe profile and the FDA has approved an oral CBD product called Epidiolex. As with medication, start with small doses and increase as needed.
