January is National CBD Month

cbd month

January is National CBD month and we are so excited to see where this month continues to takes the CBD industry.

This month is a great opportunity to spread knowledge and creates awareness of all the benefits CBD has to offer.

Thankfully, millions of users have learned about the benefits, but sadly there are still those who would choose pharmaceutical drugs over this miracle aid.

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is the second most prevalent active ingredient in cannabis. CBD is an essential component of marijuana that is derived directly from the hemp plant; a cousin of marijuana.

Unlike THC, CBD does not cause the “euphoric high”. This peeks the interest of many cannabis users who do not like to feel high but enjoy the medical health benefits CBD has to offer.

The FDA states that hemp plants are legal under the Farm Bill, as long as they contain less than 0.3% THC.

CBD HEALTH BENEFITS:

Did you know CBD is often known for and associated with being a more holistic approach to medication over the use of persciption drugs?

CBD is consistently being researched and studied in clinical trials. The strongest scientific evidence of its effectiveness is in treating epilepsy syndromes, such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). Typically, these conditions do not respond to antiseizure medications. Epidiolex, which contains CBD, is the first cannabis-derived medicine approved by the FDA to help reduce the number of seizure, and in some cases, stop them all together.

May also help with:

  • Epilepsy – FDA approved Epidiolex, a purified form of CBD oil, for treating two types of epilepsy, as mentioned above
  • Anxiety + Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Chronic Pain
  • Migraines / Headaches
  • PTSD
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Addiction
  • Nausea
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Acne

Types of CBD

CBD comes in 3 types, containing different compounds and concentrations:

  • Full-spectrum: includes all parts of the cannabis plant. Full-spectrum products contain less than 0.3% THC.
  • Broad-spectrum: contains most of the cannabis plant compounds, contains trace amounts of THC
  • Isolate: pure, only contains CBD
