Over the last few decades, cannabis researchers have continously discovered many forms of THC. The most well-known THC is called Delta-9 THC. Delta-9 THC is the main compound in cannabis strains and cannabinoid we all know and love. Recently, we learned about Delta-8. Delta-8 started to gain popularity within the last year or so for being similar to Delta-9 just less potent. and
Now to confuse everyone again, we have Delta-10, 0 THC, or Δ10-THC
Delta-10 is a cannabinoid found in trace amounts in the cannabis plant. It will get you high just like Delta-9 THC but is considered less potent. Delta-10 is commonly processed from hemp-derived CBD. Delta-10 is known for providing energizing effects. It is said to be more of a head buzz than a full body high. Keep in mind that Delta-10 can still potentially cause you to fail a drug test.
Delta-10 is comparable to strains like Sour Diesel, Pineapple Express or Super Lemon Haze.
Delta-10 was actually discovered by accident. Fusion Farms in California found it when extracting THC distillate from a batch of cannabis that was contaminated with fire retardant. It formed these mysterious crystals that were originally misidentified as the cannabinoids CBC and CBL. After months of research, it was properly identified as delta 10 THC.
Delta-8 vs. Delta-10
Delta-8 and Delta-10 appear to be very similar. What exactly is the difference between the two?
Delta-8 is more like an indica and Delta-10 is more like a sativa.
To create both cannabinoids, CBD oil is first extracted from legally grown hemp. The resulting oil is processed into either Delta-8 THC or Delta-10 THC.
Also, different chemicals and reactions are being used to create the two. Delta-10 is not easy to manufacture because it must be refined so substantially. Chemicals are used in this extraction process. It is extremely important to only consume delta-10 products that have been lab-tested to ensure they are then free of any and all chemicals and contaminants. True delta-10 products will have a QR code showing the proof of testing certification.
Where Do I get it?
At the moment, the availabilty of delta-10 products it limited. We can expect this to change in the near future as it becomes more popular. Currently, there are a few companies like Botany Farms and Delta Effex offering delta 10 THC oil cartridges , disposables and raw delta 10 distillate.
The delta-10 market will likely resemble the delta 8 THC market. This will include tinctures, concentrates, oil, gummies, other edibles and capsules.
Stay tuned to see if Delta-10 appears on our menu.
