Sadly, here we go again. I feel like we keep reading news articles about this happening here in the Bay Area and all around the country.

What Happened?

Early morning on August 6, 2022, officers responded to reports of a burglary near the 2500 block of Willow Street in Oakland.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, three vehicles, along with three unknown individuals were parked on the 2400 block of Willow Street. The suspsects then broke into the business and cut the power.

What kind of business did they target? A local dispensary.

$100k Worth of Weed…Gone

C.R.A.F.T. Cannabis in Oakland was robbed at gunpoint and had about $100,00 worth of cannabis product stolen.

Unfortunately, the susects are still at-large and got away with all of the product in the dispensary.

KTVU Fox 2 reports that Alan Sorrentino, the owner of C.R.A.F.T. (Citizens Research Alliance for Therapeutics) Cannabis was notified by his alarm company of the burglary early Saturday morning.

Sorrentino quickly arrived on scene to investigate what was going on, only to be held at gunpoint. Sorrentino left the scene, but he continued to watch the situation unfold via surveillance camera.

Sorrentino mentioned the intruders appeared to know exactly what they were doing . “Unfortunately they were able to get away with all of our inventory basically, so we’ve had to shut down,” Sorrentino said (KTVU Fox 2).

Police Information

Oakland Police Department was called multiple times. Although, eye witnesses noted it took them multiple hours to arrive.

During those hours, the suspects did major damage. They broke door locks, busted walls, and broke stair steps.

Could this situation been different had they Police arrived quickly? I guess we will never know.

Oakland PD said they arrived on scene at about 7:30 a.m. Furthermore, they explained how they were unable to respond immediately because they did not have enough officers available at the time.

Oakland PD were able to identify some of the vehicles from surveillance video. A white Toyota pickup truck and a small black sedan, potentially a Mazda or Toyota. There were other vehicles involved to help unload the vault area.

More information is needed to hopefully find the suspects. Anyone that has information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Oakland Police Department’s Burglary Unit at (510) 238-3951.
